MINE BLAST VICTIMS RESCUED IN CHANNEL - Survivors of an Allied invasion ship, sunk by a Nazi mine, struggle in the waters of the English Channel off the coast of France during the hieght of the storming of the Norman Beaches. Clutching to pieces of wreckage, they kept afloat until a Coast Guard rescue craft came along and hauled them aboard. Coast Guard rescue vessels saved from death in the Channel on D-Day and the days that followed, as Nazi guns strived to stem the tide of invasion.
