Secured in the well-deck of an LSD, these amphibious tractors of the Third Tractor Battalion begin their three-day voyage to Emirau Island from their Guadalcanal base. The transfer of Marines and supplies from ship-to-shore over coral reefs surrounded the island on every side. Emirau Island - March 1944
