An "Alligator," huge sea-going amphibious tractor, in the Pacific Ocean in the surf off this tropical island. The tractor, used to great advantage in operations at Rendova in July, serves the utilitarian purposes of hauling rations, water, ammunition over land and in the sea. It has guns mounted on it for protection.
