Three unarmed Douglas DC-2 transports made up the sky trail which dropped supplies by parachute from 130 feet to American troops fighting within sight of the Munda Airfield on New Georgia Island. This shot shows one of the planes taxiing out onto the runway at Henderson Field ready for the takeoff. These pictures were shot with a K-20 aerial camera from the lead in the flight by Margun Bert USMC, photographic officer, Public relations SEction , FMAW.
