Direct frontal attack on Jap positions in rocky northern Iwo Jima. Explosion among and around tanks are of Jap mortars. Notice position of men, crouched under heavy Jap fire. They gained about 200 yards of open ground in assault only about 30 dead. Iwo Jima - February 1945
