Permenently ashore at Saipen, the American flag flies briskly in a fresh breeze at Marpi Point. Marpi Point was once the center of Jap resistance on Saipan and later became the supply point for replacement aircraft used aboard the US Carriers that weakened Japan. Note the shell marks on Rock Monsdnock in the background. Sept. 31, 1945
