TINIAN AIRFIELD - The main Ushi Air Field, one of two on Tinian Island, was the first objective of Second and Fourth Division Marines after establishing a beachhead on the island. Saipan Island (background) was used as a base of operation for the current assault. Tinian - July 24, 1944
